Our custom cabinet maker is making us upper and lower kitchen cabinets. Through a conversation I realized the cabinets are not planned to have backing (they will be open to the sheet rock). My wife and I are a bit surprised by this. We've always envisioned our cabinets as having a backing. Does anyone have some thoughts/opinions on this? Is it a big deal to not have a backing? The cabinet maker says backs are essentially worthless to the product so they don't do them. Thanks for your input
